Review: “The Dumpley Acrostics”, William Hope Hodgson, 1914.

As with our last two stories, this story has seen print just two times. One in 1914’s Cargunka and Poems and Anecdotes (privately printed to preserve Hodgson’s U.S. copyright) and 2007’s The Dream of X and Other Fantastic Visions: Being the Fifth Volume of The Collected Fiction of William Hope Hodgson.
Essentially this is what would later become the Carnacki story “The Find” in a revised 1921 edition of Carnacki, the Ghost Finder – but without Carnacki.
